(Phnom Penh, Sept. 28, 2023) – U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh organized the 2023 EducationUSA Fair at Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh today to highlight U.S. educational and exchange opportunities for Cambodian students. U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia W. Patrick Murphy, and a representative from the Cambodia Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports officially inaugurated the fair and toured the booths.
The 2023 EducationUSA Fair provided a unique opportunity for Cambodian students to learn more about higher education in the United States and connect with representatives of almost 30 educational institutions, who provided more information about the programs they offer, admission requirements, and the application process. At the fair, students and parents were also able to attend info sessions by the EducationUSA Adviser and Consular Officers to learn more about steps to study in the United States and student visas.
Speaking at the fair, Ambassador Murphy, said that “Cambodian students’ interest in attending colleges and universities in the United States has consistently risen since 2012. Even during the pandemic, Cambodia was the only ASEAN country to see an increase in students going to the United States. U.S. higher education institutions are recognized worldwide for their high-quality education, which contributes to the development of your communities and Cambodia as a whole. We are pleased that Cambodian students recognize the value of U.S. higher education, where there are over 4,000 colleges and universities. We have something for everyone: public, private, military; big, small; urban, and rural.”
The U.S. Embassy is committed to providing Cambodians with information about opportunities to pursue higher education at U.S. institutions. In Cambodia, we promote these educational opportunities through the EducationUSA Advising Centers in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. The U.S. Embassy also promotes these opportunities through engagements at its four American Spaces in Battambang, Kampong Cham, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, and at various Cambodian schools throughout the country.
