THE EMBASSY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN PHNOM PENH IS TRANSMITTING THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION THROUGH THE AMERICAN LIAISON NETWORK AS A PUBLIC SERVICE TO U.S. CITIZENS IN CAMBODIA. PLEASE DISSEMINATE THIS MESSAGE TO ALL U.S. CITIZENS IN YOUR ORGANIZATION OR NEIGHBORHOOD.

Cambodia Entry Requirements

On May 20, authorities lifted the restrictions on entry into Cambodia of foreigners traveling from six named countries experiencing the spread of COVID-19 (the United States, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, and Spain) and introduced the following measures for prevention, containment and response to the spread of COVID-19 for all travelers entering Cambodia by air, land, and water.

  1. All travelers entering Cambodia must possess a COVID-19 negative medical certificate issued no more than 72 hours prior to the date of travel and proof of medical insurance coverage of at least $50,000.
  2. Upon arrival in Cambodia, health authorities require all travelers to undergo a COVID-19 test and wait to receive the laboratory results. Some travelers have reported waiting 24 hours in stark conditions while test results were processed.  In the event one or more travelers test positive for COVID-19, Cambodian authorities will subject all passengers  to a 14-day quarantine at a location designated by Cambodian authorities. If all travelers test negative for COVID-19, health authorities will ask travelers to self-isolate for 14-days at their home under supervision of local authorities and health officials. Health authorities will then oversee another COVID-19 test on the 13th day of self-isolation.

Cambodian Visas

The Government of Cambodia has suspended the e-visa and visa-on-arrival programs until further notice. In addition, we understand Cambodian Embassies will only issue official and diplomatic visas and will not issue tourist or other visas to enter Cambodia at this time.

U.S. Treasury Checks

The Embassy recently received an additional quantity of 46 U.S. treasury checks and we are in the process of notifying recipients of their arrival. If you are not registered in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), then we do not have your contact information and cannot notify you. When we receive more checks, we will notify those recipients as well.  If you have a question about your economic impact payment, please visit the IRS’ website here: https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/economic-impact-payments.

COVID-19

As of 10:00 a.m. June 4, Cambodia has two active cases of COVID-19 (there have been 125 total confirmed cases since the onset of the global pandemic).  We will send further MASCOT updates as events and developments warrant.
