Aviation and STEM Discussion with Delta Pilot Jonathan Sheehan

Aviation and STEM Discussion with Delta Pilot Jonathan Sheehan
Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia, Phnom Penh
May 5, 2016

On May 5, Mr. Jonathan Sheehan, an American pilot with Delta Airlines, spoke to a group of students about his work and other ‪‎STEM‬-related careers in ‎aviation‬. Over 300 students from local schools in Phnom Penh attended the talk, which was hosted by Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia and organized by EducationUSA Cambodia. After his presentation, the students had several questions for Jon and he had some cool ‪Delta‬ giveaways for the students.

Jonathan- who is married to a Cambodian and here to visit his wife’s family in Kandal province – kindly volunteered to speak to youth in ‪Cambodia‬ about aviation and STEM. “Aviation is all about STEM,” Jon said. “For science, we have meteorologists to help us with the weather. For technology, we have people who design the aircraft we fly. For engineering, we have mechanics and technicians who keep us flying. And for math, I’m doing math all the time in the cockpit.”

Thanks so much to Jonathan, Delta Airlines, and all of our partners for this successful event for Cambodia’s youth.
