English Language Fellow Programs

The goal of the English Language Fellow (ELF) program is to support the development of English teaching and education programs in Cambodia. ELFs serves as teachers of English as a foreign language and are involved in teacher training and staff development activities in areas such as methodology, curriculum and textbook design, and English for Specific Purposes.  From 1996 to present, the Public Affairs Section has sponsored an ELF each academic year to work with faculty members of Cambodian host institution to update their English skills.  ELF program has spent seven year supporting the English language program at the ELSU of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, one year at the Institute of Foreign Languages (IFL) and the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), and two years at the Department Media and Communications. In addition to his/her main tasks at host institution, ELF was assigned to train English language trainers at the six Regional Teachers Training Centers (RTTCs) on the teaching methodologies, and to assist English Language Teaching Community in Cambodia developing the program for CamTESOl conference as well.

The Public Affairs Section also provides English teaching materials, English teaching forum and pamphlets about the United States of America to the six Regional Teacher Training Centers, as well as other educational institutions throughout Cambodia.
