The U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh is offering a Student Internship Program (Summer Cycle) to Cambodian students from June to September, 2018.

Program Eligibility

In order to be eligible for this program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizens or permanent legal residents of the host country;
  • At least 18 years old;
  • Must be an active student at a public or private higher education institution;
  • Must have already completed one year of studies in the institution; and
  • Must provide certified transcript to show proof of good academic standing and have the certification letter from the school.

Qualifications Required

  1. General field of studies.
  2. Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English and Level IV (Fluent) Khmer are required. Language proficiency will be tested.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Job Description

  1. Assist the supply team to randomly check the supply items on shelves against the Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS) records of more than 3,000 supply items. As a result, the supply team can identify supply for sale, open up more space in the supply rooms, and reduce the supply stock levels for easier inventory control.
  2. Assist the inventory team for several houses for make ready and at the same time help with barcode swap for around 20,000 non-expendable property items.
  3. Assist the warehouse team to jot down the barcode number to minimize the barcode number note errors when they deliver and pick up the items on a daily basis. The intern will be asked to stay at the warehouse to help make sure the barcode number note is accurate.
  4. Assist the receiving clerk to contact the requester to pick up their items and inspect the items for receiving.
  5. Assist the sub cashier/telephone clerk to submit the petty cash request, contact the requester to get cash and contact the telephone company for the new number or the number deactivation.
