Political and Economic Section

The Political and Economic Section provides support on political and economic issues to the United States Ambassador to Cambodia. The section monitors all aspects of U.S. political and economic relations with the Kingdom of Cambodia, and reports to Washington on key developments in Cambodia and Southeast Asia. The section represents the official views of the United States government to officials of the Royal Government of Cambodia. Officers within this office work with the Cambodian government to resolve bilateral issues and to coordinate our positions in multilateral fora. Examples of the types of issues the section deals with include supporting bilateral trade and investment; encouraging administrative reform and good governance; assisting U.S. investors; promoting human rights and religious freedom; coordinating on regional stability and security; and combating trafficking in persons.
