A dedication ceremony for the National Blood Tranfusion Center (NBTC) was held on June 14, 2016 coinciding with the World Blood Donor Day.
Among the distinguished guests were Ambassador William Heidt; Minister of Health H.E. Mam Bunheng; U.S. Army Brigadier General Jeffrey Milhorn; H.E. Hun Many, President of Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia; Dr. Hok Kimcheng, Director of the National Blood Transfusion Center; and Dr. Dong Il Ahn from the World Health Organization (WHO).
“I look forward to hearing about the great things that will come out of this new National Blood Transfusion Center,” said Ambassador Heidt, adding that “I hope it will help Cambodia soon reach the day when no patients die because of a lack of safe blood.”
The NBTC, along with the Kampong Cham and Siem Reap Regional Blood Centers that opened earlier this year, represents ongoing investment by the U.S. Government in helping Cambodia collect, store, and distribute a clean and safe blood supply.
