Ambassador Heidt and members of the The U.S. Ambassador’s Youth Council and the Young Eco Ambassadors joined biologist Zeb Hogan on a sunset cruise along the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers.
“These rivers are crucial to Cambodia,” said Dr. Hogan, the host of the cable TV show “Monster Fish” that has featured animals from Cambodia’s rivers. “Almost everyone is dependent on them in some way.”
Dr. Hogan is the lead researcher for “The Wonders of the Mekong,” a five-year, $5 million project funded by USAID – US Agency for International Development that aims to preserve a functional, biodiverse, and healthy Mekong River. The initiative was launched last month. You can read more about the project here.
