U.S. Ambassador Nina Hachigian of the U.S. Mission to Asean (USASEAN) visited Phnom Penh, delivering a policy speech on the U.S. relationship with Asia, meeting with political and business leaders, and hosting a discussion with alumni from YSEALI programs.
Ambassador Hachigian spoke about the “U.S. Rebalance to Asia” at an event organized by the Cambodian Institute for Strategic Studies (CISS) and hosted by the Royal University of Phnom Penh.
A primary topic of discussion was the importance of rules and laws in assuring peaceful conduct between nations. “Adhering to rules and norms will tame rivarly and foster cooperation toward Asia-Pacific’s bright future,” she said. “Laws, rules, and norms provide the connective tissue of the ASEAN community.”
