Current Status of U.S. Passport and Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) Applications

Due to the implementation of public health measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the U.S Department of State began limiting its domestic passport operations in late March. The recent cessation in domestic passport operations halts processing of all regular passport and CRBA applications until further notice. Effective April 8, the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh can no longer offer routine passport and citizenship services.

However, in an emergency, the U.S. Embassy can assist with processing passport applications for adult or minor applicants. If you have not received a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA), an emergency passport may still be issued. If you have previously applied for a passport or citizenship service, you should expect significant delays receiving your passport and your citizenship evidence documents. Contact the U.S. Embassy to check on the status of your previous application.
