The U.S. Embassy in Cambodia will host the ‘Great American Whiskey Tasting’ in Phnom Penh on December 6 and again in Siem Reap on December 8. The tasting will feature some of the finest U.S. whiskeys on the market today. These events will bring together spirits importers, distributors, retailers, mixologists, and enthusiasts to learn more about why these uniquely American products are the choice of connoisseurs worldwide.
The events will take place at the newly-opened Hard Rock Café in Phnom Penh and at the Le Meridien Angkor in Siem Reap. Participants will not only have the chance to sample premium U.S. brands but also can learn about the history of American whiskey. In addition, the Embassy has partnered with Uber in Phnom Penh to help guests get to and from their destinations safely.
According to the Distilled Spirits Council, the global export of U.S. spirits exceeded $1.4 billion in 2016 and has been on an upward trend over the past decade thanks to increased popularity, increased trade promotion programs, and implementation of new trade agreements. Uniquely American, bourbon and Tennessee whiskey products are the leading categories of U.S. spirits that are exported, accounting for almost $1 billion in exports in 2016. A key driver of sales has been the global demand for cocktails containing top-tier brands.
The Phnom Penh event will take place at the Hard Rock Café (second floor, Exchange Square) on December 6, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.
