The U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh recently awarded a small grant to Yorn Young and his band to promote the new album entitled “Lovin’ USA: Yorn Young Journey Across America.” The new album of 11 songs describes different cities and states of the United States. The purpose of the grant is to build good relationship between Cambodian and American people through music and cultural programs.

Yong Yorn is a talented Cambodian artist, song writer, singer and musician. Yorn has been working in the field of music and arts in Cambodia for more than ten years. He was selected to attend the 2013 OneBeat program, which is a U.S. Department of State musical exchange program to the United States. Participating in this program inspired him to write the songs in his new album.

Under the grant, Yorn will hold an informational session with English Access Microscholarship Program students in Kampong Thom province to share his experience at the OneBeat program and in the United States. Yorn and his band will perform all 11 songs in his new album in Kampong Thom Province on March 17 at 7p.m. at the Old Stadium in Stung Sen City. The concert is free and open to the public. There will also be Khmer traditional dances, Chapei and a comedy show at the concert.
