U.S. Embassy and Westec Media present an IPR Awareness Event

The U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, in collaboration with Westec Media Ltd. and Legend Cinema, will jointly host an intellectual property rights (IPR) awareness event and an advance screening of a Hollywood film on November 30.

The event is intended to underscore the importance of upholding intellectual property rights around the world and in Cambodia. Participants will include officials from relevant ministries, law enforcement, legal professionals, representatives of the entertainment industry, and other IPR stakeholders in Cambodia.

The event is being held in conjunction with the visit of Peter Fowler, U.S. Intellectual Property Attaché for Southeast Asia. He also heads the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Bangkok and will be meeting with relevant ministries during his November 30-December 1 visit to Phnom Penh. Additional speakers include: H.E. Ouk Prachea, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce; H.E. Dr. Sok Siphana; film director Sok Visal (Gem on the Run, and Poppy Goes to Hollywood); and Margaret Hsiang, Economic Officer at the U.S. Embassy. Following the remarks, participants will enjoy an advance screening of Underworld: Blood Wars.

Members of the media are invited to cover the event, which will take place at Legend Cinema in TK Avenue on Wednesday, November 30, at 6 p.m. No recording devices will be permitted during the screening of the movie.
