Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel gave remarks and took questions from an audience of 350 students and young professionals. Assistant Secretary Russel spoke about the strengths of the U.S.-Cambodia relationship and offered advice on leadership. Mr. Russel also spoke about the power of the YSEALI network, which now includes more than 100,000 members across the 10 ASEAN nations.
The Assistant Secretary had special praise for Cambodian YSEALI members in the audience. “There are young people who have their eyes on the future,” he said. “You don’t need a special badge to be a leader. You need a dream.”
Earlier in the day the Assistant Secretary met with Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng, Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, acting CNRP President Kem Sokha, and members of civil society.
